Andrij

Andrij comes from a Greek-Catholic family that fled Donetsk in 2015. Only two grandmothers remained there, as they felt too sick and old to start their lives again elsewhere. In early 2020, Andrij’s father died of cancer. This was a very hard blow for him and also for his mother. She had to work very hard to support Andrij and his two grandmothers. Andrij graduated from high school in June 2020 and – deeply traumatised by the death of his father – decided to study medicine.

The high tuition fees for medical school, dormitory and other expenses are very difficult to bear for a widow living alone.

At the beginning of the year 2021, the committee of Ad Pacem decided to support Andrij with 100€ per month. A family member of Ad Pacem accepted to support Andrij financially this year.

The second year of study at the university took place mostly remotely, which caused Andriy’s categorical rejection. He believes that the medical profession can only be obtained full-time, and decided to temporarily interrupt his studies until the epidemiological situation improves. However, the war made its own adjustments in life. Andrii had to get a job to support himself and his sick mother. In turn, from March 2022, Adpachem stopped its financial support, as Andrii interrupted his studies.
